This October families in Acadiana will have several opportunities to celebrate, commemorate, and indulge in nine days of authentic Acadian culture and heritage with free, festive events held around Louisiana from October 11, 2025 through October 18, 2025. These events will vary in time and place offering families the opportunity to participate in an event closest to them.

According to the Grand Réveil Acadien, or The Great Acadian Awakening by Louisiana-Acadie, this multi-parish celebration gives local families and tourists alike a chance to experience the lasting cultural impact of the Acadian people with free events featuring live music, cooking demonstrations, educational programs and promotional exhibits that share and preserve the heritage and culture of the Acadian people. The gatherings started in 2011 as a way to encourage the Acadian people around the world to gather, bond, and share the memories and stories of their unique shared history.

The celebration for the Grand Réveil Acadien 2025 will take place around Acadiana and throughout several parishes in Louisiana. The events and celebrations will range from lectures, live musical performances, arts and crafts markets, cooking demonstrations, French tables and much more.
All events are free to attend with some requiring advanced registration. The first event will kick-off the nine day celebration in beautiful downtown Abbeville, Louisiana around Magdalen Square on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. These family-friendly events are being held not only to honor our Cajun heritage but to ensure that future generations know the stories of both triumph and turmoil of the Acadian people. By honoring our past we are able to continue to move into the future, embracing new technologies and advancement but still keeping out our diverse, rich heritage a part of everyday life.
