We're back in your inbox with family-fun events, parenting tips, and more this week as we begin to wrap up August. Did I actually just type that?
Yes, ... yes I did.
As time seems to continue to fly by each week, one thing I can recommend to our parents is to make sure you to set time aside to check in with your kids regularly. I'm not referring to the important conversations about grades, health, or school and/or family issues. I'm talking about a laid back, simple conversation to make sure they know you're interested in what's going on in their lives.
It's important to make sure to take time to check in with them about what's going on in their world. From elementary to college, our kids want us to be engaged and interested in what interest them, even when they give us the eye-roll. 🙄
Ask open-ended questions that give them the opportunity to open up and feel not only safe, but comfortable talking to you. That way, when something really important comes up, you'll be able to have a real discussion with them.
