Kristy Boudloche, a 1995 graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School, was born and raised on the east side of Houma. She has recently finished chemotherapy and radiation after a battle with stage 3 bilateral invasive ductal carcinoma. She was a dancer for 15 years, and her talent brought her all over the world, including visits to Austria and Australia. Today, she is the “Jill of all trades” at La Casa del Sol and a 25 year veteran at the restaurant – qualified for every position except for cooking the food!
One of Kristy’s fondest memories from her cancer journey is enduring “ice pack therapy” in the middle of winter to prevent neuropathy from chemo treatments, and ringing the bell after completing her chemo and radiation treatment at Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center. Her advice to other patients is that cancer is not a death sentence, it is a life sentence, a new lease on life. Do not let it define you. Never lose hope. Always think positive. And NEVER GIVE UP!
Let Kristy's story of fighting and survivorship inspire you to join the fight. Support Geaux Pink all during the month of October on behalf of Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center. For information about scheduled Geaux Pink events or to host your own event, click here.
